The Mechanics of Your Golf Swing
By Erwin Pope
We all want to have more power in our golf swing. Want to see that ball go sailing off the tee straight down the fairway a couple of hundred yards. Now of course we've all also seen someone consistently do that at a course on Sunday afternoon, so effortlessly, just like the club was slicing through butter. What do these people with the perfect golf swing and a perfect drive every time have that we don't have. Is it speed, strength, or a better driver? Chances are none of the above, what they have mastered is their golf swing mechanics.
Of course a better driver made of the latest and greatest material will help add a few yards to your drive, also having strength in the right muscles will help out. How ever all of these things aren't worth a dime if you're not using them correctly. And to use them correctly you need to have the right swing mechanics down. Until you understand exactly what happens when you swing a golf club, how the weight is transferred and how mechanics come into play rather then brute force and strength you'll continue to either duff the ball or be plagued by that evil hook or slice.
So is this to say that you should just purchase an inexpensive club, and any out of shape bum can learn to drive a winning ball? No not at all, your equipment and physical fitness level are very important, how ever you need to learn to use it right. A bad swing will only produce one thing, bad results. Whether it's a good club or a bad club, or your strong or weak.
If you're over the top with your golf swing, or to far on the inside it will come out in the direction of the ball. Being able to correct this error through your swing mechanics is when you've really learned to master the controllable par of this crazy game.
Working consistently to tweak your swing through mechanics is how you'll slowly but surely shave those strokes off of your handicap. The key is know the right way to do it in the first place so you have a base to work from. It is a lot more difficult for us to unlearn bad habits in our swing sequence then it is to take the time to learn the correct movements and technique the first time around. Remember bad habits are difficult to break, and this is no different in golf then it is in any other area of life.
Take advantage of Golf Instruction
One big let down with amateur golfers is that they get discouraged when they don't see improvement after practicing and practicing at the driving range. All they're learning to do is slice that ball further and further rather then discovering how to correct it and drive it straighter and straighter. This can all be corrected by introducing the correct instruction to your practicing regime. Whether it's a quality instructional video or book, or you register for lessons from the local pro you need a solid foundation to understand why a golf ball will tend to slice or hook. Or where the correction can be made in your swing to stop topping the ball. Without proper instruction you can't fully understand correct golf swing mechanics, and will continue to be frustrated.

The Value of Georgia Bulldogs Football Tickets
By Jimmie Mcdowell
Georgia Bulldogs football tickets are as cherished as any sports-related items in the state. The Bulldogs truly are the state's preferred team, as their tradition dates back longer than their in-state sports cohorts - the Falcons, Braves, Hawks and obviously the Thrashers. Athens isn't far outside of Atlanta, and it seems that the whole state shows up for every Georgia game. Given all this support and fervor, you'd think Georgia would have a dominant football team.
However, here's the deal - they don't - they have a very, very good football team, but not a dominant football team. They've never had a run of supremacy that the likes of USC, Nebraska, Miami and Notre Dame have all had over time. They are always highly-ranked, and it seems that they're always in contention for the SEC title, but they haven't played for or been in serious contention with the voters for a national championship in some time. Below we'll look at what separates Georgia from national dominance.
Geography
Georgia has a plentiful harvest of high school football talent every year, but it's nowhere near the volume or level that Florida, its neighbor to the south, produces. Therefore, Georgia always faces stiff competition from nearby competitors such as Florida State, Miami and Florida, all of whom seem to load up every year with a bevy of five-star recruits.
Georgia always has a bit of trouble going into Florida recruiting, and some of their old standby states are also not panning out the way they have in the past. South Carolina, another neighbor, has basically put up a brick wall around its state boundary because of Steve Spurrier at South Carolina and Tommy Bowden at Clemson. That basically limits Georgia's geographic reach with recruiting.
The Herschel Walker Syndrome
Every Bulldogs fan old enough remembers the early 1980's. That's when one of the greatest college football players of all time, Herschel Walker, was busy tearing through opposing defenses at a breathtaking pace. Walker is perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime player, and he led the team to their last national championship as a freshman in 1980. Georgia Bulldogs football tickets were never harder to find than during the Walker era.
No player since has come close to the transcendent talent Walker brought to the field every week, and it seems as though Georgia has been searching for his replacement for more than 25 years. Unless/until another Walker comes around, and assuming Georgia signs him, Georgia may not be able to get over the top.
Competition
Although many feel that the SEC is down a bit this season, year in and year out, the SEC is one of, if not the, toughest conferences in the United States. The teams mentioned above - USC, Miami, Nebraska, etc. - usually had to win just one or two difficult games in their national championship seasons. Georgia faces a full slate of SEC teams every year, including Florida and Tennessee. It's become almost impossible to come through the SEC undefeated, which is a near-prerequisite for a shot at the national championship.
Overall
Coach Mark Richt has done everything possible to maximize Georgia's potential. The Bulldogs are always prepared, always play hard and recruit as well as they can given their inherent limitations. If everything comes together for the Bulldogs in a given year, they could make a run at a national championship. However, they are not a team that appears ready to dominate the college football landscape the way their fans want them to.
Regardless, Georgia Bulldogs football tickets will always be hard to find, and they will remain a "very good" team for years to come - just not a "dominant team" any time soon.

Understanding The Strategy Of Offensive Basketball
By Carlton Payne
Basketball is a rough sport but people who regularly play the sport make it really fun to watch, not to mention very easy. If one looks a little bit closer, it has also technicalities and techniques. The object the game is to keep the ball in possession and score at the team's basket. If the team has the basketball they should protect it from the opponent so that they won't be able to steal it from them. This is called offense; the team who possesses the ball tries to keep the ball in their hands before they shoot and score.
Different players of the team have differences in the roles that they play during offense.
The Point Guard acts as the coach on the floor or court during the game. Extensive knowledge of the game and good ball handling skills are very important to be able to drive the ball to the basket with the help of the other members of the team. Good passing and dribbling skills together with great speed and fancy footwork is a technique that can be done by the point guard to keep the ball in possession and be successful in offensive play. Reading the defense of the opponent plus doing good defense can also be applied so the point guard can penetrate and dish off and drive the ball to the basket. Point Guards take little credit for the good offensive play however; they are valued by the other members of the team and the coach for they are the only ones who can understand the importance of the point guard.
The Off-Guard or the shooting guard acts as the best shooter among the guards of team. In addition to the qualities of the point guard, skills in moving without the ball and consistent hitting the 15 to 20 foot shot should be possessed. This player's aim is to score and assists his teammates to score. This player should read the offense play the point guard has established because this player will replace the point guard if the point guard is overplayed or has to leave the game. This player then also acts as the understudy of offense.
The Center plays the mean tallest player on the floor or court and is as important as the point guard. This player should be quick and aggressive because this player rebounds to get the ball in the team's possession and blocks the ball from shooting at the basket. Shooting skills required for this player are shooting at short and mid range, lay-ups, short hooks and jump shots and therefore strong hands, strong upper body and good jumping ability comes in handy. This player leads the team's defense by reading the opponent's defense and using it against the opponent. Upon taking the ball in the team's possession, this player needs to look at the floor, see who is open and pass it so the ball can be taken to the team's basket and score.
The Small Forward acts as the gifted player of the team. This player should know how to take hold of the ball and of the game. This player runs the length of the floor if needed especially during fast breaks so this player should be quick and fast. Rebounding skills is also necessary for him to take hold of the ball and in doing so, this player does defense anywhere on the floor. This player shoots at will and should be capable of shooting from anywhere on the court or floor.
The Power Forward does the dirty work but is like the point guard, small forward and the center. This player should also have the qualities of the center because this player controls the game in the key along with the center, doing offensive and defensive rebounding. This player may run the length of the floor if necessary especially during fast breaks so running skills is a plus factor. Adequate scoring and passing skills would be of great help to this player. This player does dribbling tactics and drives the ball to shoot in the basket. This player ensures that the team play is enforced properly.
The sixth man plays the all in one because this player replaces any member of the team on the court or floor if necessary. This player comes right out of the bench to ensure the right flow of the team play if the need comes to replace another player. This player observes the play and flow of the game so that this player can continue the game's tempo and flow and deliver quality minutes to the team while he is on the court. This player may not be part of the starting five but this player keeps the team effective.
