St. Louis Rams tickets have been selling like hotcakes during the first part of the 2006 season as the Rams got off to a fast start. It looked like they were a team that was instantly going to get better under a bright new coach, and most thought it would be the Rams who posed the biggest challenge to Seattle's division supremacy.
However, as we move into the second half of the season, the Rams have fallen off a bit. They're currently in third place in their division behind the improving San Francisco 49ers, and they're running out of time if they want to make a run at the playoffs. They still have a bright new coach, so what's happening with the Rams? We'll explore a few possible reasons for their struggles below.
Run Defense
The Rams have been known to have an average-at-best defense in recent years, as their offense has for a long time been the core of the team's identity. That was supposed to change under new defensive coordinator Jim Fassell, late of the New Orleans Saints, who
has long been known for his stout, physical defensive teams and schemes.
The Rams' defense was strong for the first month-or-so of the season, but since their free-fall began, they've been getting gashed, particularly on the ground. In yesterday's 15-0 loss to the Carolina Panthers, the Rams surrendered 242 rushing yards, and that will get you beat almost every time. You can't win in the NFL if you can't stop the run, and Fassell and the Rams need to get that fixed right away.
Coaching Learning Curve
Scott Linehan came to the Rams known as an up-and-coming coaching star who had built successful offenses in both Minnesota and Miami. His knowledge and teaching ability made players such as Daunte Culpepper better, and his offenses always scored a lot of points, regardless of whether the talent he had at his disposal was run or pass-oriented. Linehan could put together a system that fit his players.
However, the difference between serving as a coordinator and a head coach couldn't be more stark, and Linehan is finding that out. After the Carolina game, most thought that the Rams simply looked flat and uninspired. When asked about it after the game, several players all-but called out their coach after he admitted that the team was flat.
St. Louis Rams tickets have provided an all-but guaranteed fireworks show in recent years, but Linehan's team isn't putting the same attitude into offense, and his defense is getting trampled. Linehan will figure things out and continue to grow into a top-flight coach, but like any other "rookie," he's still learning the nuances of leading a team. If he doesn't figure that out, he'll risk losing his veterans, but it's not too late to rectify the situation.
Offensive Line
The Rams have a good offensive line when it's at full-strength, but it won't be firing on all cylinders for the rest of the season, as star LT Orlando Pace is out for the year. No unit can simply move on at the same level when it loses its best player, and yesterday was the first tangible evidence that the Rams will miss Pace in a big way. QB Marc Bulger was sacked seven times and RB Steven Jackson carried the ball only seven times. The Rams mustered all of 111 yards of offense, which is never good enough to win.
Overall, the Rams still have time to right the ship. They need to find their spark, and perhaps a string of home games coming up on their schedule will help them get back on track. One thing is sure - St. Louis Rams tickets will provide fans with a highly-entertaining show for the rest of the season as the Rams attempt to keep up with the rest of the division.

Baseball Jerseys: Spring is Nearly Here and So is Baseball Season
By Sandy Winslow
With the weather warming up and spring training underway, people are already daydreaming about Americas pastime and the summer to come. Thinking about baseball brings back a rush of great memories and everyone loves cheering on their favorite team as the pennant races heat up in August and September. The best way to show your support for the hometown is to sport a team jersey at a game, at work, or even at home as you follow along on television. Baseball jerseys are the most popular team merchandise for good reason. They look great and make you feel like part of the team as you experience the highs and lows of the season.
The problem with jerseys is that the authentic merchandise tends to be expensive. Also, the official team stores often have a limited selection that may not suit your fancy. Fortunately, in the age of the Internet, it is easier than ever to find the jersey you want at a fair price. If you are in search of a rare jersey or a collectible item, you may want to try specialty shops or online auctions. A sports merchandise store will work best for a standard jersey.
These websites can be found through basic online searches. Once you find a couple sites take a look at their selections. You will probably be interested in the option to shop jerseys by team or by color, which can quickly narrow your search and speed up the process. At this time, you should probably decide what types of baseball jerseys you are particularly interested in. Fashion jerseys, for example, typically offer a comfortable neck line and a sleek, casual look.
If you are going for a more realistic look for your jersey, your choice will come down to authentic or replica. Authentic jerseys, as their name implies, are designed just like the jerseys worn on the baseball diamond. They are durable and usually feature quality stitching for the lettering. Of course, such high-grade items may come at a hefty price. The replica jersey is a less expensive option that attempts to emulate the authentic jerseys appearance while saving money on some of the details.
Personalization is another option to consider when shopping for baseball jerseys. With these jerseys, you can have any name printed or stitched on the back. This is a great option if your favorite player isnt popular enough to sell his jersey or if you want to put your own name on the back. A personalized jersey also makes for a fantastic gift. Funny player nicknames are another popular choice, so be creative!
Other options include throwback jerseys and the increasingly popular alternate jerseys. Fans have a much greater selection to choose from nowadays. If, for example, you are an Atlanta Braves fan, you no longer have to choose between white and grey jerseys. The Braves now have dark navy and bright red alternate versions available. You can also take a trip down memory lane with a throwback jersey. Throwbacks make excellent gifts for older baseball fans or for anyone who wants a unique look or wants to show off a lifetime of being a dedicated fan.
Baseball jerseys are a great way to get more involved in the sport you love and show support for your team. Shop online for the best selection and prices and remember to compare stores until you find the perfect jersey. One last piece of advice: if you buy a jersey for a child, make sure its big enough that they can grow into it. Your jersey will be a gift they can wear for a long time.

Training Aids That Improve Your Golf Game
By Arnoldo Watson
Golf is undoubtedly one of the world's most rewarding and frustrating sports. The serenity and beauty of a golf course on a sunny day belies the tension that can creep into a round when we're not hitting our best. While the concentration that the game requires is often the perfect antidote to the stress of work and life responsibilities, there are times when the safe haven of 18 holes feels more like seven levels of the netherworld. Unfortunately, most of us don't have access to a personal golf coach or trainer, and we're forced to work out the kinks in our game on our own. Thankfully, though, there are golf clubs and training aids that can help get us back into the swing. Here are some of the most popular:
Full Swing Trainers - There are several types of full swing trainers, but among the most popular is a hinged driver that gives you immediate feedback and helps you overcome slices and hooks. Another popular system involves a swing hoop and weighted club that creates the perfect golf swing. The idea is that you can adjust your swing until you gain control and can hit consistently. In the process, you strengthen the muscles specifically used in golf and build muscle memory, so that you'll more instinctively hit the ball straight when you're out on the course.
Stance Trainers - Stance trainers focus on both sets of extremities: the legs and the arms. Many golfers underestimate the importance of the right stance in powerful, consistent hitting. Trainers that focus on the legs and feet generally work by restricting lateral movement and keeping the feet from spinning out. One popular stance trainer for the arms focuses on keeping the trailing arm from closing more than 90 degrees, while another connects the arm to the body in order to help the arm fold correctly. Both assist by keeping your golf clubs in position to achieve the proper downswing. There are also trainers that help position the wrist and hand for delayed hits, greater accuracy, and more consistency.
Putting Aids - There are a variety of training aids available to help you increase your putting accuracy. In addition to the mats that are meant to mimic greens, there are putting braces, lasers that mount to the putter's shaft, and trainers that have guidance rails to ensure that your stroke is smooth and straight. Some of the most intriguing new digital devices that read greens so that you'll know how they break and can adjust your stroke accordingly.
And Even More - In addition to the types of training aids mentioned, there is a vast array of products available that can help you with tempo, alignment, balance, weight transfer, swing analysis, and release.
Although training aids can be tremendously helpful in working out the kinks in your game, the importance of good equipment can't be underestimated. A good set of golf clubs will help you play your best, but if you can't afford a new set, you can always opt for brand name pre-owned golf clubs. Used golf clubs often come with a certification and warranty, so you can be assured of their quality. The right golf shoes can make a significant difference in your positioning and consistency, and the comfort of the right golf apparel and golf accessories allow you to keep your mind on the game.
In the end, the right golf clubs and training aids accomplish the same goal: taking the frustration out of the game and putting the enjoyment back in.

Jim Catfish Hunter, winner of the 1974 AL Cy Young Award
By Itzel Whitney
James Hunter was born on April 6, 1946 in Hertford, North Carolina. James Hunter is better known as Catfish Hunter and is one of the great pitchers of all time in Major League Baseball.
While Hunter was young he was talented and was successful in several different sports. He was a great football player and baseball player especially. His baseball skills were outstanding as he was able to play shortstop and pitcher while batting 4th in the lineup. He was really an all around player in high school.
Unfortunately Hunter suffered an accident while hunting during his senior year in high school. During the accident he actually lost one of his toes and had shotgun pellets stuck in his foot. The accident hindered his mobility and there were many teams that feared that he would not be able to play at a high level with his injury. There was a team that believed he could get the job done, however. He ended up being drafted by the Kansas City Athletics and played the majority of his career with the Athletics.
He began pitching with the As during the 1965 season and it didnt take him very long to catch on in the big leagues. In just his second career season he managed to make the All-Star team for the first time. This All-Star appearance would be the 1st of 8 appearances that he would have over the course of his career. Six of those 8 All-Star appearances came during that time that Hunter pitched with Kansas City/Oakland.
During the 1968 season Hunter had the best game of his career as he pitched a perfect game on May 8, 1968.
The best year of his career was definitely the 1974 season. The Cy Young Award is the award given to the best pitcher in each league of Major League Baseball. During the 1974 season Hunter managed to earn his first and only Cy Young Award. During the season he racked up 25 wins and posted an outstanding ERA of 2.49. He led the league in ERA during that season.
After having the best season of his career he decided to jump ship and head over to play with the New York Yankees. Before leaving the Athletics he managed to have 4 straight seasons with 20 wins or more and managed a record of 4-0 while pitching in the World Series.
Hunter was highly sought after following his Cy Young Award season and the Yankees made him the highest paid pitcher in the league. It took him a while to get rolling, losing his 3 of his first 4 starts, but he ended the season in impressive fashion. He had 23 wins on the season and led the league. He pitched an incredible 328 innings on the year and had 30 complete games. He was just short of winning the Cy Young award as the award was given to Jim Palmer. Hunter was 2nd in the voting for the award. That was his 5th straight year with 20 or more wins.
Hunter finished his career with 224 wins and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987.
