 The New England Patriots have found themselves in an intriguing situation for the past couple of years; they have been winning. For almost all of the Patriots life they were, if not the laughingstock, at least the doormats of the league.
The Patriots began their turnaround when they hired Bill Parcells in 1993. He introduced respectability and a winning attitude to the Patriots which culminated in leading them to Super Bowl XXXI in 1996. They lost to the Green Bay Packers, but it was quite the achievement for the Patriots.
Robert Kraft acquired the team for a record $175 000 000 in 94'. It was the next main piece of the Patriots dynasty. He was born and brought up in Massachusetts and was a lifelong Patriots fan. When he decided to buy the team he guaranteed the supporters a couple of things. The first would be to make the Patriots successful and the 2nd was to construct a state of the art facility they can play in. He has delivered on both.
The following bit of the dynasty also happened right after Mr. Kraft purchased the Patriots. He met then assistant coach Bill Belichik. Five years after when the Patriots were seeking their next coach Bob Kraft thought of how pleased he was with Belichik.
Bill Belichik has been under contract with the Jets at the time and the Patriots were required to ship a first round draft pick to the Jets so that you can sign him. IT was the best trades in Patriots history. The Jets acquired a pretty good defensive lineman but Patriots got a coach who's led them to 3 Super Bowl victories in four years and put in the National Football League's 1st 16-0 regular season too.
Lots of people would argue that the Patriots run was largely a result of luck. They would be proper. Naturally working hard and preparation are precursors to good fortune so in a sense they made their own. The Patriots drafted a new man named Tom Brady within the 6th round of the draft.
Tom Brady was drafted at the 199th spot in the Two thousand draft. It is safe to say the 198 players drafted before him do not compare to Brady. Since taking over for Drew Bledsoe he has led the New England Patriots to 3 Super Bowl wins, has got the 4th highest passer score in the the NFL, has presided over the greatest winning streak in the history of the NFL (21 straight wins comprising two seasons, and holds the record for most touchdown passes in a single season.
Mr. Kraft obviously fulfilled on his 1st assurance to the followers of New England by giving them 3 Super Bowl wins to the region. The next promise was the cutting-edge stadium to be built in Foxboro, MA.
This new stadium seats 68 supporters and is named Gillette Stadium. The stadium was privately financed and it is one of the truly great places to watch an NFL game.
The Patriots are poised to remain at the top of the National football league heap for years to come because the crucial pieces for their dynasty remain in place.
